Sourcing VLOG: Basic Sourcing Skills [Episode 2]

Sourcing is an important skill in recruiting today to find candidates, especially for tough-to-fill positions. More and more organizations are looking for their recruiters to have sourcing skills. In this video blog, Tony discusses three keys to basic sourcing skills that every recruiter should have:

  1. Learn Basic Boolean
  2. Research in Google
  3. Be Creative (Think Like Your Candidates)

Tony-thanks for taking us back to the basics! We need to remember to absorb things in bite sized chunks. I hope this vblog encourages more recruiters to tap into the basics and find ways to stay up to date on sourcing trends and technologies.

Tegan, Thanks for the post. I totally agree. I remember when I obtained my first sourcing certifications - I was overwhelmed with the amount of data. I felt like a "Jack of All Trades, but a Master of None." That is when I took a step back and realized that I need to learn and practice small chunks. As I became good at basic boolean - I began learning advanced, etc. 5 years later that has resulted in a strong skillset - but I can never stop learning.
