Network with Employers and Get Free Jeans?

I recently read an article that combined the best of both worlds: network with prospective employers and receive a free pair of !iT Jeans valued at $65 – $70. WOW.
The June 9 event, sponsored by Meet Up Group, Pinkslipmixers.com and Slipsquad.com, was held at Lime, a retro 60’s restaurant and bar in San Francisco. It promised to be a great deal! Meet prospective employers and get a free pair of jeans. All you needed to do was prove that you are unemployed and that you had either tweeted or posted on your Facebook account about the event. WHAT A GREAT IDEA! I am sure that in the midst of the event, Lime was doing well too. I personally would not simply go in, meet and greet, grab the jeans and leave. Hopefully the event was successful to all who were involved and kudos to the event organizers for coming up with a great idea! Hopefully we will be seeing more creative ideas like this as the economy continues to grow!
As a side note to the article, the MeetUpGroup.com has a fascinating program as well! It is a “bid for an interview program” with a social networking workshop, where prospective employees can go to meet with prospective employers. The catch is if they are mutually interested the job seeker then bids for an interview spot. And yes, of course, MeetUpGroup.com accepts all major credit cards. They have some really great ideas and facts at their website. It’s definitely worth a look at www.meetupgroup.com.
