Vice President, Global Client Services
As senior vice president of Global Client Services, Angela Calkins is instrumental in building the leadership infrastructure to support Pinstripe’s global business growth. Calkins is also responsible for directing the teams serving those global clients. She brings to Pinstripe more than 15 years of unparalleled experience in talent acquisition including helping to build a pure play global RPO firm and directing global talent acquisition for a Fortune 500 company. Calkins is a member of the Pinstripe Leadership Team, and reports directly to Executive Vice President Erin Lange.
Prior to joining Pinstripe, Calkins was the director of Global Talent Acquisition for Starbucks Coffee Company where she led the talent acquisition team for the 160,000-employee global organization. Calkins joined Starbucks two days after CEO Howard Schultz returned to the company; making the announcement that he would implement an organization-wide transformation agenda. This development radically changed her experience from a role of daily recruiting to intense immersion in change management leadership. During her three-year tenure, Calkins was directly involved in an overhaul of the company brand, which resulted in a transformation of their entire focus from domestic to global growth. Calkins also led her team through the changes in the employment branding marketplace and talent landscape resulting from the economic crisis. This included managing through the changing business needs associated with Starbucks’ first-ever corporate layoffs, immediately followed by tremendous rapid-rebound growth.
Previously, Calkins held the position of vice president, Recruiting Operations and Client Services for CRI, a premier, global recruitment process outsourcing provider. Calkins was a member of the original team and worked directly with the CEO in building the company during the nascent stage of RPO, into a leading pure play RPO provider.
“Leading the entire global talent acquisition team at Starbucks and having spent the last three years on the inside of a large iconic brand that is entirely defined by its people, has given me a comprehensive understanding of the talent needs of progressive global organizations. That experience allows me to bring a unique insight into the perspective of our clients at Pinstripe,” explained Calkins.
Calkins describes herself as a true believer in RPO. “I really believe in what RPO does for organizations. It allows them to focus on their core competencies, drive their own success and reach their corporate goals through delivering the quality and quantity of right-fit talent for all parts of their business,” she said. Since her tenure at CRI, Calkins has kept an eye on the RPO industry and watched how Pinstripe has grown and thrived.
“I chose Pinstripe because they are one of a few select firms that have remained true to pure RPO. Their growth during the last few years of a trying economy further demonstrates the unique value of this industry and Pinstripe’s leadership position within the marketplace. Having worked with CRI for eight years and help build their RPO presence, it is important to me to work for a company that holds to the standards of a pure-play RPO: a commitment to remarkable service delivery and deep client integration, rather than commoditized transactional staffing,” Calkins explained. “I became further convinced that Pinstripe was a perfect fit for my experience, as I learned more about their innovative culture, commitment to excellence, and Pinstripe’s key positioning for right-timed global expansion,” Calkins concluded.
