My father-in-law is in the bacon business (Nueske Meats); however, he has no connection to Kevin Bacon or my previous blog, RPO is like Kevin Bacon.

What my father-in-law does have is lots and lots of trade magazines. He has magazines solely dedicated to meat and smoked meat. He has magazines with a spotlight on the restaurant industry and some others that just focus on food advertising and marketing.

The Kevin Bacon Game

So on July 2nd as I sat at my in-laws cottage waiting for the sun to come out, I decided to read a few of his trade periodicals. Actually, I am a firm believer that reading outside of your specific industry is a valuable and useful exercise. As the actor, Will Smith said “the keys to life…are reading and running.”  FYI – Will Smith has a Bacon number of 2 in the Kevin Bacon Game (see illustration on right).

Recruitment Process Outsourcing is like Kevin Bacon: you either love it or hate it.

Kevin BaconThis week, all our sales people got together to discuss why many companies remain adverse to Recruitment Process Outsourcing and why many other organizations are embracing the concept. It was our consensus that sentiments run very high with few remaining ambivalent on the subject.

On one end of the spectrum, RPO appears to be viewed as threat by staffing and HR departments. They see RPO as part of the slippery slope to a fully outsourced structure and the dismantling of the insourced recruitment team.
