In my sales role, I have the opportunity to speak with hundreds of different companies across a wide spectrum of industries. Some of these companies are already outsourcing some or part of their recruitment activities. Over the years, I have frequently heard the same criticisms. Sometimes it is framed positively:

“There is a lot of good process happening in our Recruitment Process Outsourcing program.”

In selling RPO, I frequently get asked by prospective clients about our competitors.

“Who are the top RPO companies? “What are their strengths?”

“What are their weaknesses?” “Who are they doing business with?”

“Have they lost any customers recently?”

The Paradox of Progress is:

As advancements are made, life gets better and yet people feel worse.

For example take the famous or infamous TV dinner. Did the product simply find a place in the life of busy families with less time to cook? Or did it simply destroy the family meal time and damage the family itself by allowing everyone to eat in a modular way?

…If you can’t spot the sucker in your first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker.”  This quote from Matt Damon in the movie Rounders helped transform the world of poker from a game that few played seriously to where it is today, a staple on ESPN, Travel, FSN and on a lot of people’s home computers.  I’ve read that more people play poker now than play golf and from what I see that doesn’t surprise me.  So in the spirit of taking topics and relating them to the RPO industry, I thought I would take a game that I love and do a comparison as well.
